Getting involved

Getting involved

As tenants, you will be involved in decisions from the beginning. You will be able to influence estate improvements, what’s included in future newsletters, the website style, types of materials used for repairing and improving homes, the standard of grounds maintenance, service standards, to name but a few. You can help to make sure that we keep the promises made in the Housing Transfer Offer document. There are lots of ways you can do this depending on how much time you have, whether you like coming along to meetings or whether you would prefer helping from the comfort of your own home.

Ways you can get involved

Interest Groups – You can get involved in a particular area of the service that you are interested in for example repairs and maintenance, sheltered housing, neighbourhood, leaseholder service. To register your interest, please email the Tenant and Leaseholder Partnerships Team, TP@redkitehousing.org.uk and let them know which area you are interested in.

Tenant & Leaseholder Improvement Commission – This is a new group that will be critical for the future development of Red Kite. It will have the power to challenge and to effect change. Members will inspect different areas of the service in detail to find out what is done well and what needs to be improved.

Board member – Board members are responsible for the wellbeing of Red Kite and have a duty to act in the best interests of it. They have a key role in helping to shape the organisation.

Editorial Panel – help to write and edit the newsletter

Red Kite Champion Could you be a Red Kite Champion?.pdf [pdf] 266KB – help to monitor the cleaning in your block or grounds maintenance

Web Watcher – help to monitor the website and suggest improvements

Neighbourhood inspections – meet up with your Neighbourhood officer, repairs officer and carry out an inspection of your estate

Red Kite Twitcher – We will contact you if we need your help or advice about something. It may mean completing a simple questionnaire or coming along to a one off focus group.

You can download copies of the minutes for our new Interest Groups below.

What will you get out of it?

You will get as much or as little out of getting involved as you want to. Here are a few examples:-

  • Satisfaction that you are helping to shape the future of a new organisation
  • A chance to give something back to your local community
  • An opportunity to undertake training and develop your skills and knowledge for your own personal fulfilment or to add to your chances of getting a job
